The French Matthieu Bailet, 2nd, climbed on his first World Cup podium during the super-G in Saalbach (Austria) on Sunday, won by the Swiss Marco Odermatt who took 85 points from Alexis Pinturault (15th) for the general.

Marco Odermatt stunned the competition with 62/100 ahead of Bailet and 82/100 over Austrian world champion Vincent Kriechmayr, still leader of the specialty classification but not yet assured of the small globe.

Matthieu Bailet, who had never done better than 6th in the World Cup, validates with his second place enormous progress this season at 24 years old.

Starting with the number 1, Alexis Pinturault took only 15th place to score 15 points, losing 85 points over Odermatt.

The French still leads the general classification but has only 81 points ahead of the Swiss with six races to go to the end of the season (one downhill, one super-G, two giants, two slaloms).

They have an appointment next weekend in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) for a giant and a slalom.
