The first round of regional elections on June 13 in Grand-Est could take place under the sign of union on the left.

Several political parties announced on Saturday that they were working "to build a rally list" for the election in the region.

The Socialist Party, the Communist Party, the Movement of Progressives, Europe-Ecology The Greens, Cap Ecology and Generation Ecology thus call, in a press release, "for the convergence of all initiatives".

"The duel between the right and the far right is not inevitable", wants to believe this alliance which advances several objectives: "to prevent the climatic catastrophe, to remake society and to repair the health, economic and social crisis".

Within the regional council, chaired by Jean Rottner (LR), the LR-UDI-Modem Alliance has the absolute majority, with 98 seats out of 168, while the formations resulting from or classified to the extreme right form the second force. (24 seats for the National Rally, 7 for Les Patriotes).

The Socialist group has 14 seats, while the environmental groups are not represented.
