Boxes have been planned in various municipalities, districts and districts of the Lyon region to receive donations.

As of March 8, International Women's Rights Day, and until May 28, a large collection of women's protections is being launched by the Métropole de Lyon in partnership with the Elementary Rules association.

The objective is to fight against menstrual precariousness which affects thousands of young girls and women in France and to make sanitary napkins and tampons available to the most vulnerable groups.

“Access to periodic protection is a fundamental right: the right to dignity,” underlines the vice-president of the Métropole Michèle PIcard, in charge of gender equality, and mayor of Vénissieux.

Nearly 2 million women in France suffer from menstrual insecurity.

And one in three students says they have difficulty buying protection ”.

Donations given to associations

The inhabitants of the Metropolis are therefore invited to come and give sanitary napkins and tampons in the houses in about twenty houses of the Metropolis and in several town halls who wished to participate in this mobilization against menstrual precariousness.

This is already the case in the municipalities of Vénissieux, Craponne, Corbas, Albigny, Givors or even Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon where boxes are installed for collection, as well as certain districts of Lyon.

These basic necessities "will then be redistributed to the various solidarity associations in the area, like the Foyer Notre Dame des sans-abri, the Mas but also to the Tambour, to the Salvation Army or to the Restos du cœur", specifies the Metropolis.

For students, associations such as the Group of associations and elected students, Independent and Solidarity and the Regional center of university and school works, will be responsible for redistributing women's protections.
