Wuppertal (dpa / lnw) - In order to escape a dead end, a 26-year-old escaping from the police in Wuppertal rammed a police car several times with his car.

In the subsequent arrest, he injured two police officers by hitting, kicking and biting, as the police and prosecutors said on Sunday.

The man had previously been caught trying to break into Mettmann with a 19-year-old, according to a current press release.

During the subsequent escape in a stolen car, the 26-year-old raced on the autobahn in the direction of Wuppertal, brushed against other vehicles and drove into oncoming traffic.

According to the police, the officers were able to secure stolen property from break-ins in the Mettmann district in the car.

The damage caused is tens of thousands of euros, said a police spokesman on Sunday.
