Oberstdorf (dpa) - On the way to her fourth World Championship gold in Oberstdorf, Therese Johaug would have had time for a coffee or a chat shortly before the finish - that was her lead in the cross-country skiing race over 30 kilometers in classic technique.

The 32-year-old Norwegian was in top form again in the Allgäu and impressed the competition.

"Therese is simply an exceptional talent," said Laura Gimmler, who was tenth as the best German on Saturday.

"It's just a league of its own."

Johaug's lead over her first pursuer was more than two and a half minutes.

For Johaug it was the 14th World Championship gold overall.

She proudly hung her four medals from Oberstdorf around her neck on Saturday evening at the ceremony in the ski jumping stadium.

With her fourth victory over the prestigious 30 kilometers, she also overtook Norway's cross-country skiing legend Marit Björgen, who had won three World Championship gold over the very long distance.

The German team boss is not particularly surprised by Johaug's performance.

"It's a traceable development over 15 years," said Peter Schlickenrieder.

"There are many processes that she has developed year after year."
