Lübeck (dpa / lno) - Three days after the surprise victory against promotion candidate Hansa Rostock, VfB Lübeck conceded a 2-1 home defeat against the relegation-threatened Viktoria Köln team.

Luca Cueto (46th minute) and Mike Wunderlich (74th) scored the goals for the guests, Cyrill Akono (78th) was successful for Lübeck.

After the sixth home defeat, VfB remains in penultimate place in the table, four points behind non-relegation rank 16.

In the basement duel, the focus was initially on the defense on both sides.

VfB attacker Soufian Benyamina, who hit the side netting (9th), had the first opportunity, but this advance remained one of the few.

The Rhinelander had more possession.

However, the Lübeck cover allowed little and only had to tremble in standard situations.

In the second half, less than 60 seconds had been played, as Cueto took advantage of inattentiveness in the Lübeck back team after a long ball and scored with a full shot to make it 0-1.

VfB was now challenged, but reached its limits.

There was more of a guest hit in the air, but VfB goalkeeper Lukas Raeder had the upper hand against Simon Handle (58th).

But after 74 minutes the time had come: After a bad pass from Nico Rieble in his own penalty area, Lauterer Wunderlich was right and completed the preliminary decision.

In the final quarter of an hour, the Lübeck tried it with the courage of desperation, but no more than the connection hit by the substitute Akono jumped out.
