As early as May last year, Jan Lindahl began preparing for a wave of restaurant bankruptcies.

For example, he tied up helpers.

But then there were no bankruptcies.

That Allstar has now given up can be said to be the first major restaurant bankruptcy in Östersund and the county.

The question is whether we will soon see a domino effect of restaurants that fall.

- The restaurants are clearly tougher today than six months ago.

This could be the beginning of a comprehensive wave of bankruptcies, Lindahl believes.

"The industry risks tipping"

In the shadow of the pandemic, many restaurateurs have struggled with beaks and claws to survive.

- But when there are rules about no alcohol after 8 pm or just one guest per table, the whole industry risks tipping, Lindahl says.

"Seek professional help - on time"

At the same time, he wants to warn the restaurateurs who are struggling in the sweat of their brow from doing something ill-considered.

Like committing something criminal or maybe mortgaging your own villa.

- It's just nonsense.

Instead, they should seek professional help while there is time, says Jan Lindahl.
