Nove Mesto (dpa) - Franziska Preuß ran at the Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto in the sprint as the best German in eighth place.

After a penalty loop, the 26-year-old was 25.1 seconds behind the victorious Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff, who also made a mistake.

In her fifth sprint win in a row, the world champion relegated Julia Dzyma from Ukraine (+ 9.3 seconds) and Lisa Vittozzi from Italy (+ 15.0 seconds), both of whom had made no mistakes.

Denise Herrmann (32), who was spared in the relay debacle with twelfth place, who won the 7.5 kilometer race in the Czech Republic last year, finished tenth after a mistake (+ 29.1 seconds).

This gives you and Preuss a good starting position for the final chase on Sunday (12 noon / ZDF and Eurosport).
