  "Life in Tibet is very happy, and I am satisfied with everything." Talking about the feelings of living in Tibet, Xie Wen Gondo, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice chairman of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of the Tibet Autonomous Region, said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency.

  Xiewen Gendo, born in 1952, went overseas with his parents when he was 7 years old, and then moved to Zurich, Switzerland to settle down. Xiewen Gendo wandered away from his homeland for half a century.

  "Although I am living overseas, I never forgot my motherland and the folks in my hometown." Xie Wen Gendo told reporters that in 1984, he had the opportunity to set foot on his homeland and lamented the changes in Tibet.

In 2011, he and his wife settled in Lhasa.

  From Zurich, Switzerland to Lhasa, Tibet, Xiewen Gendo said that in his mind, Lhasa is the most livable city in the world.

"Lhasa has a good climate, good sunshine, and many Buddhist temples. Many Tibetan compatriots in foreign countries, such as Europe and the United States, want to return to Lhasa."

  He introduced that in the old Tibetan society, there were only two schools in the local area, and the people lived hard. Over the past few decades, Tibet's culture, education, medical and health, social security, transportation and communications, and people's living standards have undergone earth-shaking changes in all aspects.

  "I am delighted with Tibet's achievements in poverty alleviation." He enumerated that Tibet has built many airports, built many highways, and built many dams to generate electricity. Agriculture is developing well and farmers’ lives are getting better and better. Today’s children in Tibet Through schooling, we go to various places in China, including Beijing and Shanghai, to receive higher education.

  In 2012, Xie Wen Gondo was elected as a member of the CPPCC of the Tibet Autonomous Region; in the same year, the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese from the Tibet Autonomous Region was formally established and he served as the vice chairman.

In 2018, he was elected as a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

  "He has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders." Xiewen Gendo said frankly that he must pay attention to and drive the local economic and social development, and he must oppose separatist forces.

  "We love our country and our family." He pointed out that some Western countries support the Tibetan separatist forces in an attempt to undermine the stable development of Tibet.

"I resolutely oppose it, and all Tibetans resolutely oppose it."

  In May 2019, Xie Wen Gendo donated a total of more than 380 cultural relics and documents to the country, which are currently kept in the collections of Qamdo Qiangbalin Temple, Changdu Archives, and Tibet Autonomous Region Museum.

  "While I am still alive, I want to give these treasures to the motherland and put them in professional institutions, so I can rest assured." Xiewen Gendo said.

  This year marks the 70th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet.

Xie Wen Genduo lamented that Tibet today "is very good in all aspects, and hopes to get better and better."

  He said that he would continue to introduce the real Tibet to the outside world based on his own experience, and introduce the development of China and Tibet to overseas Chinese and Tibetan compatriots living overseas.

"I hope they will come back often, feel the changes in their hometown, and have the opportunity to contribute to the construction of their hometown." (End)
