Cologne (dpa) - For the television presenter Ralph Caspers (49), the longevity of the "Sendung mit der Maus" also has something comforting.

The children's show is celebrating its 50th birthday this year.

«I won't live to see my 100th birthday.

Then I'll definitely be dead, ”Caspers calculated for the German press agency.

"But there is also something comforting about it: the mouse was there before I was here," said Caspers.

"And she'll stay there when I'm gone."

Caspers has been part of the show's team since the late 1990s.

He was born in 1972 - just after the mouse.

The first “laughing and factual stories” ran on March 7, 1971 on television.

Caspers said: "For me there is no world without a mouse."
