Frenchman Valentin Lavillenie qualified for the final of the pole vault competition of the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Torun on Saturday.

The fresh indoor champion of France got his ticket by crossing a bar at 5.60 m.

While the world record holder Armand Duplantis is a favorite, Valentin Lavillenie will be the only French representative in the final, the young Ethan Cormont (20) having been eliminated (5.60 m) by the number of tests.

Renaud Lavillenie, quadruple winner of the Euro indoor, had withdrawn Friday after a right calf injury.

The final is scheduled for Sunday.
