Leipzig (dpa) - Opponents of the Corona measures have been able to mobilize far fewer people for their protest in Leipzig than announced.

The police spoke on Saturday afternoon in an initial estimate of around 350 vehicles at the various motorcades that had also made their way to the trade fair city from other cities in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.

About 1000 vehicles were registered.

The participants had pinned posters on the car windows and criticized the vaccinations, for example.

According to the police, several participants had masked their license plates at a starting point in Leipzig-Grünau.

The emergency services took action against this, it said.

According to initial estimates, more than 1,000 people in the city took part in a counter-protest.

Under the motto “slow down lateral thinking”, they set off by bike and motorcycle from different parts of the city to Augustusplatz in the center.

There was a rally there in the afternoon.

The police were in large numbers to secure the various routes.

Participants in a bicycle parade tried to take an unauthorized route.

"What is happening at the moment is clear," said a police spokesman in the afternoon.

The people of Leipzig had obviously also adjusted to the traffic obstructions.
