Geislingen an der Steige / Göppingen (dpa / lsw) - After a corona outbreak in a kindergarten in Geislingen an der Steige (Göppingen district), around 200 people have to be quarantined.

The Göppingen district office announced on Saturday that the coronavirus had been detected in a total of nine children and educators from several groups in the kindergarten, with at least two cases being the more contagious corona variant initially discovered in Great Britain.

In addition, the virus has already been discovered in at least five cases in the family environment of individual kindergarten children or employees, sometimes in a mutated form.

According to the district office, the health department then ordered a quarantine for all children and adults who tested positive, their contact persons and other household members.

In the city of Geislingen alone, at least 200 quarantines are necessary in this context.

More precise figures can only be given in the coming days, when the investigations have been completed.

The kindergarten will remain closed until further notice.
