- Our FM antennas have been up for 30 years and have come to "end of life" and now need to be replaced, explains Ingvar Johansson, who is an antenna specialist at Teracom.

The work is estimated to take two months and involves a more reliable, modern and energy-efficient facility.

Ingvar Johansson is an antenna specialist at Teracom and keeps the wires when about 40 antennas and a 600 meter long cable are to be replaced - "It is as thick as a thigh".

As high as the Eiffel Tower

Hörbymasten was inaugurated on October 1, 1959 and became the main broadcaster for radio and TV in Skåne.

At 325 meters, it is almost as high as the Eiffel Tower and the signals reach all the way to Bornholm.

During the work, the effect is reduced below and compensated for with extra transmitters in Kristianstad, Osby and Tormestorp.

- First we have to dismantle the old antennas and to get all the technical equipment up and down we have to tighten up completely new wires.

A completely new elevator system, says Ingvar Johansson.

- It is an exciting challenge that we have an extremely thick coaxial cable of 4 1/8 inches, that is, as thick as a thigh, in a length of 600 meters to handle.
