Oberstdorf (dpa) - The German ski jumpers danced a wild pogo in complete euphoria, the stadium announcer heated up the volunteers like the normally 25,000 fans in a full stadium:
Led by Markus Eisenbichler and World Cup giant Karl Geiger, the flying artists have once again crowned themselves team world champions in their home championships.
"I'm so proud of the boys," said the show jumper Geiger and was looking forward to the evening: "We'll really enjoy that today."
The German quartet, which was completed by Severin Freund and Pius Paschke, made a big impression in Oberstdorf, relegating Austria and Poland to second and third place.
“Such a day, as beautiful as today,” rang out loudspeakers to celebrate the day through the almost completely empty arena on the Schattenberg due to the corona.
The volunteers in the stands clapped enthusiastically in time.
Her local hero had done it again.

"Everyone jumped at the maximum," praised national coach Stefan Horngacher.
The Austrian always found new words for the extraordinary performance of his athletes.
"Extremely brilliant," he said and only seconds later: "A dream!"
For Geiger it was the fourth medal in the fourth competition in his living room - the second gold.
The 28-year-old won silver in the individual on the normal hill, bronze in the large hill and gold in the mixed team with Eisenbichler, Katharina Althaus and Anna Rupprecht.
Defending champion Germany was already in the lead at halftime.
The DSV-Adler was only about seven meters apart from the Japanese in fourth place.
The team was at the front right from the start, because in starting jumper Paschke and veteran Freund, the two jumpers also delivered behind the top guys.

Eisenbichler jumped in comparison to the two individual competitions, in which he had only reached 17th place, as in another league.
"I'm grateful to my girlfriend, she built me up again yesterday," he said.

Eisenbichler jumped 135 meters in the first round.
His second attempt even went down to a very strong 138.5 meters and made the 29-year-old roar the stadium with joy.
As the final jumper, Geiger refined his dream title fights with strong nerves with sets on 133.5 and 136 meters.
Since Martin Schmitt in 2001, no German jumper had taken as many podium places as the Allgäu at a world championship.
Geiger is the defining German athlete at the event in the local mountains.

The Bachelor of Engineering in Energy and Environmental Technology was not bothered by numerous crazy twists and turns, including a corona infection, and was particularly strong at the season's highlights.
In December he became world ski flying champion in Slovenia.
Geiger achieved the only World Cup victory this winter at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, where he now also made the World Cup his jumping festival.
For old master Freund the title was a very special satisfaction after a long period of athletic suffering.
"You can guess what it means to me after all this time," he said.
"It's unbelievable, it's absolutely mega."
The 32-year-old, stricken by many injuries, won two gold and one silver in 2015 in Falun, Sweden, and then missed two world championships.
Now he was able to cheer right on top of the podium on his return.
"He solved it brilliantly," praised Horngacher.
For late starter Paschke it was the first world championship medal.
After the high point of the home World Cup, the ski jumpers now have almost three weeks off from competition.
The lucrative raw air tour in Norway is canceled due to the corona.
The season finale for ski flying in Slovenia will take place from March 25th to 28th.
