The fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress opened on the same day. She answered questions from reporters on the first "representative channel" before the opening of the conference.

Zha Yan introduced that Guizhou has many mountains and is the only province in the country without plain support. Her team took the lead in establishing an emergency medical rescue system in mountain areas to provide emergency rescue protection for major natural disasters, emergencies, and public health emergencies.

Last summer, an expert at the 500-meter spherical radio telescope (FAST) station known as the "Chinese Sky Eye" was bitten by a poisonous snake, causing sudden acute liver and kidney damage and hemolysis.

The "China Sky Eye" medical rescue team led by Zha Yan immediately activated the rescue helicopter and quickly arrived at the base. While carrying out treatment on board, it reached the top three general hospital as quickly as possible.

She quoted the expert's feeling when he returned to work after healed, "I didn't expect that your contest with the god of death also has a'FAST' speed."

Zha Yan also gave an example. Last year, a pregnant woman in Bijie City was facing an emergency. Her home was more than 170 kilometers away from the municipal hospital.

Upon receiving the task, the mountain emergency medical rescue system took the pregnant woman to the operating room in just 39 minutes, saving the lives of the mother and daughter.

In the past, this journey took more than a day.

She said that in 2020, the maternal mortality rate in Guizhou Province will drop to 16.07 per 100,000, which is lower than the national average for the first time.

Although there is still a big gap between China's developed regions, progress has been made.
