Mainz (dpa / lrs) - People with certain serious previous illnesses and contact persons for pregnant women and those in need of care can register for a corona vaccination in Rhineland-Palatinate from Saturday.

The Ministry of Health announced on Friday.

For the vaccination appointment, documents that prove a previous illness would have to be brought with you.

Close contact persons of pregnant or dependent people would have to bring a form signed by the respective person.

“We are making good progress with the vaccinations.

I am pleased that we can offer vaccinations to more and more people, ”said Health Minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler (SPD) on Friday.

According to the ministry, the recognized pre-existing conditions in the second priority group include trisomy 21, chronic lung diseases, dementia, intellectual disabilities and severe psychiatric illnesses.

People with diabetes or obesity also fall into this group.

Already at the end of February, appointments were activated for daycare workers, primary school teachers, midwives and employees in the public health service, among others.
