The US economy created 379,000 jobs in February, nearly three times more than in January.

A figure well above the 200,000 expected by analysts.

These jobs were mainly created in bars and restaurants, but also in activities related to leisure and accommodation, or in the manufacturing industry.

Two factors explain this improvement in the labor market: the easing of activity restrictions and the anticipation by business leaders of a mini economic boom expected in the spring thanks to the vaccination campaign and massive government aid.

The unemployment rate is also falling, but very slightly.

It stood at 6.2% in February, 0.1 point lower than in January.

An improvement that

has not benefited the entire population

because black workers are the only ones to have seen their unemployment rate increased, from 9.2% to 9.9%.
