  The Director of the National Tourism Administration of Thailand, Yuthasa, recently stated that this year’s Songkran (Splashing Water Festival) holiday will be six consecutive days (April 10-15), and celebrations will definitely resume, but the details are still being studied.

Yutasa revealed that the government has set a specific goal to restore the tourism industry-the number of domestic tourists in Thailand this year will reach 160 million, and Songkran Festival is the golden period of tourism in the year. Although there has not been a large number of foreign tourists to Thailand, the domestic tourists in Thailand The tourism market can be revived by the return of Songkran festival celebrations.

  Due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Thailand’s Songkran Festival holidays and celebrations last year were all cancelled, and the tourism industry suffered an unprecedented hit.

At present, the epidemic in Thailand has been effectively controlled, and scenic spots including Bangkok's Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha have been reopened one after another.

In order to restore the tourism industry as soon as possible, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand plans to open five major tourist areas to foreign tourists in April, including: Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Surat Thani and Chonburi, which are all deep Tourist areas that are popular with international tourists will be the first to resume receiving foreign tourists as a pilot.

After being quarantined in a local hotel room for 3 days, tourists can walk out of the room and move around in the hotel area. After 14 days, if they are confirmed that they are not infected with the new crown virus, they can travel throughout Thailand.

Previously, the "Golf Isolation" program operated by the Thai Tourism Bureau has successfully received tourists from countries and regions with low epidemic risk and resorted to resort-style isolation in government-approved golf resorts.

  Relevant departments in Thailand are currently preparing a "vaccine passport" plan. If the new crown vaccine is vaccinated, there is no need to quarantine after entry. It is expected that 6.5 million foreign tourists will be received this year.
