Ingela Nilsson Nachtweij's lack of leadership has been pointed out as the main cause of the municipal accident in Vimmerby 2019, according to a review by the auditing firm KPMG.
The political chaos in Vimmerby meant, among other things, sick leave and ported politicians.
Following that report, a majority in the City Council, at a meeting on 15 June 2020, decided not to grant discharge to Nilsson Nachtwej in 2019, when she was the regular chair of the municipal board.
No legal basis
The City Council's decision was appealed by Nilsson Nachtweij and now she is right.
There was no legal basis to deny her discharge.
Discharge can be denied when the municipality has suffered financial damage and is according to the law "a very intrusive measure". In this case, the criticism is mainly about Ingela Nilsson Nachtweij's leadership style and therefore the court does not consider that there is reason to deny her discharge from liability.
