For politicians there are appearances that are embarrassing and nothing more.
In the best case for the politician, the citizen even suffers sympathetically.
And then there are embarrassing appearances that cause great damage and have what it takes to end political careers prematurely because they shake the trust of their own people, voters and potential political partners.
The video appearance of the new left boss Susanne Hennig-Wellsow on Thursday with the journalist Tilo Jung falls into the second category.
