The boy was admitted to Örnsköldsvik Hospital with a pressure-relieving shunt and headache.

The X-ray was done four hours later and the Neurosurgeon at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå who looked at the pictures thought it was possible to wait.

Three hours later, the neurosurgeon decides that the boy should be moved to NUS.

Then he gets worse, has a cardiac arrest and dies on the way to Umeå.

According to Lex Maria, Region Västernorrland is now reporting the incident to the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate, IVO.

- It is unfortunate what happened and we hope that it does not happen again, says chief physician Thomas Bohlin at Region Västernorrland.

According to him, several routines regarding the collaboration between Örnsköldsvik Hospital and Norrland University Hospital have been managed since the incident in August.

Among other things, doctors from Umeå have trained doctors in Övik in how to diagnose such incidents.

They have also managed how to report to each other when talking on the phone.

The Neurosurgeon in Umeå does not want to comment on the case, but wants to wait for IVO's investigation and decision.
