Marches renewed in the Algerian capital, as thousands took to the streets in Didouche Mourad, to mark the adherence to the popular movement.

The demonstrators raised slogans calling for radical change and their renewed adherence to the demands of the popular movement and refusing to hold legislative elections after 3 months.

Despite President Abdel Majid Tebboune's assertion that most of the demands of the movement have been met, the demonstrators have renewed their exit to demand a radical change of the system.

The demonstrators also raised slogans rejecting the proposed amendments to the nationality law, which could be withdrawn from residents abroad on charges of compromising state security.

In the city of Annaba, rallies also took place, during which the demonstrators adhered to the demands of the popular movement and emphasized the need for a fundamental change in the system of government in the country.

In Bordj Bou Arreridj in eastern Algeria, rallies took place, during which the demonstrators raised slogans affirming their adherence to the demands of the popular movement and demanding the fulfillment of those demands.

On Monday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said, in an interview with local media, broadcast by state television, that most of the demands of the movement have been met and the return of the marches does not bother him.

He added that most of the demands of the original movement were met, such as canceling the fifth term (a fifth presidential term that Bouteflika wanted), not extending the fourth term, government change, and dissolving parliament.

After Bouteflika's resignation, and the election of the current president, Tebboune, to succeed him on December 12, 2019, the popular movement marches continued, until the declaration of a state of health emergency due to the outbreak of Corona in March 2020.

The Algerian movement began on February 22, 2019, and managed to force President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to resign on April 2, while Tebboune assumed the presidency after winning the first presidential elections in December of 2019.
