Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - Award for the “Esplanade” restaurant in Saarbrücken: In the Michelin Guide for Germany presented on Friday, the gourmet restaurant received a second star and is now one of a total of 41 two-star restaurants in the restaurant guide are listed.

At the presentation of the new top restaurants, it was said that “with the Mediterranean-inspired, classic product cuisine by Silio Del Fabro,” it has increased to two stars.

The Landhotel Saarschleife in Mettlach is also represented in the new restaurant guide with a green star, which distinguishes sustainability in top gastronomy.

In total, the Michelin inspectors awarded 35 green stars last year.

The guide now contains 53 restaurants that place particular emphasis on sustainability.

The awareness of environmental and resource conservation is steadily increasing among German restaurateurs, it said.

The previous three-star restaurant Gästehaus Klaus Erfort in Saarbrücken lost one star.

With Victor's Fine Dining in Perl, the Saarland is represented in the guide with another three-star restaurant as before.

Hämmerle's Restaurant - Barrique in Blieskastel was also able to maintain its star, as were the three other one-star restaurants in Saarland, Louis in Saarlouis, Kunz in Sankt Wendel and Landwerk in Wallerfangen.

"The German gastronomy faced the extraordinary crisis with creativity, courage and passion," emphasized Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the guide, before the presentation of the new restaurant guide in view of the industry currently affected by the corona lockdown.

"Even in these difficult times, our inspectors have therefore put together a carefully researched selection of restaurants, and they were very impressed by the high level of gastronomy."
