The RIVM reported 4,727 new positive corona tests on Friday.

That is more than the average in the past seven days (4,470).

In the past week, the number of new positive tests has always been around four to five thousand a day.

On Wednesday, the number of positive tests exceeded 5,000: 5,090 people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.

Because the daily figures can fluctuate, NU.nl looks at the weekly average.

RIVM also repeatedly emphasized that the weekly figures provide a better picture.

The RIVM reported 32 corona-related deaths on Friday.

Not all of these patients have died within the past 24 hours;

there may be a delay between the date of death and the reporting date.

Worldwide, 2.5 million people have died from the effects of the corona virus.

Number of corona patients in hospitals fell again slightly

For the third day in a row, the number of corona patients in hospitals has fallen.

On Friday, 1,911 corona patients will be in the hospital, 12 fewer than Thursday.



There are now 1,370 corona patients on the nursing wards, fourteen fewer than on Thursday.

The number of patients in intensive care increased by two people to 541. That number has been fluctuating between 500 and 550 for about a month.



Hospitals have admitted 224 new corona patients last 24 hours, compared to 198 on Thursday.

In the past week, an average of 213 corona patients per day ended up in an intensive care unit or nursing unit.

That average is also fairly stable, the number of admissions has been fluctuating around 200 for about a month.
