Bestensee (AP) - The Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee are faced with a complicated situation before the last main round matchday in the volleyball Bundesliga.

In order to qualify for the playoffs on their own, the Brandenburgers need at least one point, i.e. two set wins, in their away game at the Grizzlys Giesen on Saturday (7 p.m. / Sporttotal.tv).

Ideally, the cup finalist could even finish sixth with a 3-0 or 3-1 win.

On the other hand, a clear defeat in ninth place would mean missing the quarter-finals.

Eighth place guarantees the last playoff place.

"We can do it," said diagonal attacker Johannes Mönnich optimistically.

The Netzhoppers are currently seventh with 26 points, Giesen has two points less than ninth.

The game of the Bisons Bühl (25 points) against United Volleys Frankfurt (28), which takes place at the same time, also decides on the final placement on the table ranks six to nine.

This week, coach Christophehaben was mainly in demand as a psychologist.

His players were deeply disappointed that they missed their first title win in club history by losing 3-0 in the cup final against Frankfurt last Sunday.

"We had to get that out of our heads quickly so that we could concentrate fully on reaching the playoffs," said eight.

Mönnich is now expecting a defiant reaction: "We will come back from the cup final stronger than before."

The Netzhoppers have met Giesen five times so far.

The Brandenburgers won four times, but three times just 3-2.

The game brought a special thrill in the 2018/19 promotion season of Lower Saxony, when the Netzhoppers held their own in the tiebreak after a tough struggle with 30:28.

Their set wins before they had only won in overtime with 30:28 and 32:30.
