Pharmacists and midwives are now authorized to prescribe and inject vaccines against Covid-19, as well as nurses who can now vaccinate without a doctor being systematically present, according to a decree published on Friday in the Official Journal. .

Pharmacists can "prescribe vaccines (..) to any person", except those "with a hemostasis disorder" and pregnant women, says the text.

These must go through the midwives, who can also prescribe a vaccine to "the entourage" of parturients and newborns.

These health professionals can also "administer the vaccines (...) to any person", except to those "having a history of anaphylactic reaction", either to "one of the components of these vaccines", or "during the first injection. ".

An identical condition for nurses, who can use viral vector vaccines like that of AstraZeneca without supervision, but must ensure "that a doctor can intervene at any time" for those with messenger RNA like those from Pfizer or Moderna.

The decree does not specify the date of entry into force of these measures, which are therefore applicable in theory from Saturday.

But the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, announced Thursday evening that the vaccination in pharmacies will begin "as from the week of March 15" for "the people having more than 50 years and presenting a comorbidity".
