“The Nigerian variant of the coronavirus could spread more actively and contribute to a potential decrease in the immune response,” he said.
Earlier in the Italian city of Brescia, a new strain of coronavirus was discovered that may be resistant to existing vaccines.
The new strain was named "Nigerian".
