The government decided to appoint composer Shunichi Tokura as the new secretary at a cabinet meeting on the 5th as Ryohei Miyata, the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs, expired at the end of this month.



Mr. Tokura is 72 years old from Tokyo.

He made his debut as a composer in 1969 while attending university, and in combination with the lyricist Yu Aku, there are many such as Linda Yamamoto's "I can't stop" and Pink Lady's "Pepper Keibu" and "UFO". I have produced hit songs.



In addition, he has served as the chairman of JASRAC = Japanese Society for Rights of Authors of Music, and has been working on the protection and dissemination of Japanese culture.



Since 2017, he has also been in charge of conducting "Hotaru no Hikari," which concludes the annual NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen in New Year's Eve.
