Kirchheim in Schwaben (dpa / lby) - A 64-year-old driver of a haulage company got under a filter system weighing tons and was seriously injured at a company in Kirchheim in Swabia (Unterallgäu district).
The machine was unbalanced when unloading from a van with a forklift and slipped off the fork, the police said.
The truck driver was flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter.
Before the accident, for reasons still unknown, he was handling the pallet on which the system was attached, the police said.
The forklift driver intervened immediately and courageously, lifted the heavy load from the 64-year-old's body and provided first aid.
According to the police, the system weighs around 1000 kilograms.
