Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - In the fight against the corona pandemic, the new Luca app for contact recording is to be tested in the Freiburg region.

The application for mobile phones is intended to support restaurants, cafes and event organizers in collecting the contact details of their visitors, as the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district office announced on Friday.

In the event of an infection with the corona virus, the contact information of the other guests present at the same time could be safely forwarded to the responsible health department via the app, it said.

So far, contacts have to be recorded manually.

This “paper mess” is no longer necessary with the app.

Freiburg's Lord Mayor Martin Horn called on citizens to use the application actively.

Meanwhile, Freiburg is increasingly relying on rapid tests to cope with the Corona crisis and presented a corresponding strategy on Friday.

As of Monday, the Augustinermuseum and the concert hall should start working as test centers.

Teachers, educators, commuters and students should also get free quick tests from Monday.

People who live in a household with a quarantined person can also be tested at the city's expense.

If a child tests positive at daycare centers or schools, according to the city, mobile test teams will be sent there.
