Hanover (dpa / lni) - That was probably too high: With its load, a heavy-duty transporter got stuck on a pedestrian bridge on Autobahn 2 in Hanover.

No one was injured in the accident on Friday night, the police said.

However, the property damage was considerable, and the motorway had to be closed for several hours in the direction of Dortmund.

According to the motorway police, the team of a 75-year-old driver exceeded the approved height by around 30 centimeters at 4.70 meters, so the truck loaded with a hub for wind turbines got stuck on the bridge just behind the Bothfeld junction.

The force of the impact damaged the bridge so badly that chunks of concrete broke out and fell onto the roadway.

An escort vehicle, at the wheel of a 38-year-old, was hit by the falling parts.

The police put the damage to the bridge, vehicles and cargo at around 100,000 euros.

The heavy transport was directed to a parking lot, where it initially remained.

The 57-year-old got a complaint for a traffic offense.
