Zwickau (dpa / sn) - The left see the social labor market in Saxony in danger.

«Unemployment is becoming more and more entrenched.

The prospects on the job market are becoming increasingly gloomy, ”said left-wing politician Sabine Zimmermann of the German Press Agency.

"Against this background, the planned cut in the Saxon state program to reduce long-term unemployment makes me stunned, especially since local actors report to me that the program is successful and brings people into work," said Zwickau member of the Bundestag.

As a result of the pandemic, the situation of those affected on the labor market has worsened, so that an increase in funds is urgently required.

As can be seen from the draft of the Saxon double budget 2021/2022, the funds for the state program to reduce long-term unemployment are to decrease from around 13 million euros in 2020 to around 8.4 million in 2021 and just under 5.9 million in 2022.

According to statistics, there were 51 080 long-term unemployed in Saxony in February, an increase of 38.4 percent compared to the same month last year.

“Basically, we urgently need better social security.

Many unemployed fail because of the high entry barriers for receiving unemployment benefits and end up in Hartz IV, ”said Zimmermann.

The federal government must immediately stop the “impoverishment of large sections of the population” and generally facilitate access to unemployment insurance: “Unemployment benefits must be increased from 60 percent to 68 percent of net wages and the duration of benefits must be extended.

Hartz IV must be replaced by a sanction-free minimum income that really protects against poverty and enables participation. "

The Ministry of Labor referred to the “Social Labor Market” funding program, which supports job centers in integrating the long-term unemployed into the labor market.

It enables intensive individual support and care for those affected and combines this with employment promotion.

The program is used to finance acquirers who provide targeted advice to companies.

In addition to the wage subsidies from the job center, employers and providers could also receive subsidies for additional expenses if they employ long-term unemployed people.

In addition, they would be accompanied by coaches.

In order to enable the job centers to plan reliably despite the corona pandemic, the projects originally running until the end of 2020 have been extended to September 30, 2022, it said.

The funds budgeted in the draft budget are sufficient for this.
