Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The German trade union federation (DGB) Hamburg has warned the employers' associations of excessive demands for corona easing.

"Anyone who builds up pressure here has obviously not understood what this pandemic is about first: the health of the people," said Hamburg's DGB boss Katja Karger on Friday.

At the moment, only small easing steps are possible.

"Nor can it be in the interests of business that the third wave, which is already underway, endangers the health of even more people and that tougher lockdown measures become necessary."

Karger recalled that it was not the companies alone who bore the costs of the crisis, but above all the employees who lost their jobs or were on short-time work.

Of course, the employees wanted to get out of short-time work and unemployment benefits.

But that can only be done if there is extensive testing and more vaccinations.

"Until then, we need patience, and I also ask employers to be patient."
