Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The NRW Ministry of Transport has extended the funding for additional school buses to improve protection against corona infection until the start of the summer holidays.
«We will continue to assume the full cost of additionally ordered buses.
Many coaches are standing around unused and the bus operators are ready.
The school authorities only have to order, ”said NRW Transport Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) on Friday according to a message.
The funding guidelines provide for the assumption of all additional expenditure.
Applications can be submitted by municipalities, providers of substitute schools or the landscape associations.
According to the Association of North Rhine-Westphalian Omnibus Companies (NWO), up to 1000 additional buses are available.
Most recently, the school bus program was extended until the Easter holidays through the adoption of new guidelines in December 2020.
