Naumburg (dpa / sa) - The Burgenlandkreis is planning to give all teachers at secondary schools a corona vaccination on the weekend (6/7 March).

The first vaccination of the staff of the elementary and special schools as well as the day care centers has already been completed, said a spokesman for the district on Friday.

"The employees of the district office and our vaccination center are currently doing a vaccination marathon," said District Administrator Götz Ulrich (CDU).

The question of the willingness to vaccinate among the teachers still to be vaccinated was made in advance.

Of about 1,000 additional teachers, the vaccination center had already received around 700 positive responses from those willing to vaccinate by Friday noon, according to the spokesman.

The Burgenlandkreis plans to reopen primary schools as well as fifth and sixth grades on March 15th.

According to Ulrich, the district administration is currently preparing an opening strategy that is largely independent of the corona incidence.

At the moment - unlike in the rest of Saxony-Anhalt - there is only emergency care, distance and sometimes alternating lessons in the Burgenland district due to the high level of infection, Ulrich said on Wednesday.

The opening of the primary schools and the fifth and sixth grades in mid-March are, according to the district administrator, subject to conditions.

"No massive increase in the incidence towards 300" should be noted.

In addition, all primary and special school teachers would have to be vaccinated by then.

After all, a regular test system with self-tests must be set up for all students.

Appropriate tests should be offered to all students at least two to three times a week.
