Berlin (dpa) - The leadership of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group has sharply condemned the business of MPs in the procurement of corona masks.

“Any activity within the scope of the mandate must not be combined with personal financial interests, wrote parliamentary group leader Ralph Brinkhaus (CDU) and CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt to all members of the Union on Friday.

"We therefore say very clearly that the receipt of cash benefits for the procurement of medical protective equipment as part of the fight against pandemics by MPs meets with our complete lack of understanding and is decisively condemned by us."

They expected that such matters would be presented and clarified in a completely transparent manner.

"Such behavior does not meet our standards, damages the reputation of politics as a whole and is unacceptable."
