Schwerin / Berlin (dpa / mv) - After the opening of hairdressing salons and horticultural centers, the period of compulsory closure is also to end for the retail sector in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

As Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) announced early Thursday morning in Schwerin after a summit of several hours between the federal and state governments, shops will be allowed to reopen for registered customers from March 8th.

The number of authorized persons depends on the size of the shop.

In regions with a seven-day incidence below 50, further openings are also possible without registrations.

This already applies to the Hanseatic city of Rostock as well as the districts of Vorpommern-Rügen and Mecklenburg Lake District.

Museums and galleries should also be allowed to reopen there under certain conditions.

"Whether and how the regions will make use of it, they will tell us at the MV summit on Friday," explained Schwesig.

In circles with more than 100 corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, however, there could not be such easing, she emphasized.

In addition, the currently very strict contact restrictions in the private sector would be relaxed.

In the future, meetings of up to five people from two families will be allowed, plus children up to 14 years.

According to Schwesig, there has not yet been a decision on tourism, who has also been on a forced break since November and is hoping for a restart at Easter.

Together with her colleague Daniel Günther (CDU) from Kiel, she campaigned to keep this question open.

At the next federal-state conference on March 22nd, it should be discussed again and a decision should be made as to whether at least travel in one's own state is possible.

The managing director of the regional tourism association, Tobias Woitendorf, has already proposed a north German special route together with Schleswig-Holstein.

The openings last year had shown that tourism was not accelerating the infection rate.

With a similarly good preparation, nothing could stand in the way of a gradual opening, argued Woitendorf.

On Friday, the state parliament in Schwerin will debate the implementation of the federal-state agreements in another special session.

Afterwards, after a video conference as part of the MV summit, the government and associations will update the state corona ordinance.

The federal and state governments had long and intense wrestling about the relaxation of the corona protection regulations, also because the number of corona cases has been rising again for days.

On Wednesday, 249 new corona infections were reported in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 28 more than on Wednesday a week ago.

As the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) also announced, the seven-day incidence in the northeast climbed to 67.6 corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

At 112.5, the value is still highest in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district and lowest in the Hanseatic city of Rostock with 25.3.

According to Schwesig, mass corona rapid tests and an increase in the rate of vaccinations will play an important role in the planned easing.

This could limit the risk of infection.

The head of government complained that the federal government had not already provided a supply of tests and also renewed her criticism of the inadequate vaccine orders.

The resident doctors in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania made it clear that they wanted to be quickly included in the corona vaccinations.

In an open letter to Schwesig, the head of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians called for the vaccinations against Covid-19 to be made possible quickly and across the board in the doctor's offices.

With increasing amounts of vaccine, it was time to prepare for the next step promptly, it said.

According to the Ministry of Health, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania expects 100,000 doses of the vaccine from Biontech-Pfizer by the end of March alone.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway in the northeast to vaccinate kindergarten teachers and teachers.

Ludwigslust-Parchim and Northwest Mecklenburg want to start as the first districts on Friday.

The demand is great, said a spokesman for the Ludwigslust-Parchim district.

The country had opened the Astrazeneca vaccine for the next priority group after criticism from the municipalities about remaining vaccine doses.

Group two includes educators, teachers, police officers and medical practitioners under 65 years of age.
