Rostock (dpa / mv) - The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania tourism association has called on the state government to buy the license for the so-called Luca app.

This would make it easier to document contacts in tourist areas, restaurants and cultural sites, as well as to follow up after an infection.

"The digital tracking is part of the strategy," said the managing director of the regional tourism association, Tobias Woitendorf, on Thursday.

He referred to Thuringia.

Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) announced there on Wednesday night that the app would now be used across the board in Thuringia.

Chancellery Minister Helge Braun (CDU) had already shown himself to be open to such digital solutions - as support for the Corona warning app.

The industry is completely disenchanted, said Woitendorf.

"We have seen that tourism does not play an important role nationwide."

The federal and state conference had not made a decision on Wednesday about an opening.

"It became the bad result that was hinted at: tourism is at the end of the food chain."

This resolution could not be communicated.

The northern German states, at least Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein as tourist draft horses, should go their own responsible model path for safe travel, said Woitendorf.

This included levels, protection standards, tests, and digital tracking.

The corresponding concepts are available and can be coordinated immediately across national borders.
