Prosecutor Yoon Seok-you, the prosecutor's head, who has been in conflict with South Korea's Moon Jae-in administration, announced his resignation on the 4th.

Although it is in opposition to the prosecution reforms promoted by the Mun administration, there are voices expecting it as a candidate for the presidential election next year, and attention is focused on future trends.

Prosecutor General Yun So-gyeol, who has led the investigation of allegations over the Moon Jae-in administration in South Korea and has deepened the conflict with the administration that is promoting prosecution reform, announced his resignation on the afternoon of the 4th.

Prosecutor Yun told reporters, "The spirit of the constitution and the legal system that have supported this country have been destroyed. We can no longer see the collapse of common sense and justice."

In South Korea, a new investigative agency to investigate fraud such as high-ranking government officials was launched on behalf of the prosecution in January, and the ruling party supporting the Mun administration has lost the right to investigate the prosecution and is conducting major criminal investigations. Prosecutor Yun is in opposition to this move, as he is proceeding with the establishment of another organization to take charge of the situation.

The South Korean presidential office has announced that President Mun has accepted his resignation.

On the other hand, Prosecutor Yun said, "This is the end of my role in the prosecution. However, I will do my best to protect liberal democracy and the people in any position."

Opposition parties have expressed their expectations for Prosecutor Yun as a candidate for the presidential election in March next year, so we are interested in future trends.
