The three candidates for the municipal election in Lille.

The Lille administrative court rejected on Thursday the two appeals filed by Martine Aubry's opponents in the municipal election.

A decision which is not a surprise, the judge having followed the opinion of the public rapporteur who went in this direction.

Stéphane Baly, environmental candidate, and Violette Spillebout, LREM candidate, had undertaken to denounce the sincerity of the election, highlighting in particular several hundred anomalies noted in the signatures on the electoral registers.

An argument that the public rapporteur had recognized, but for only sixty initials.

He had therefore, during the hearing of February 18, concluded that "the proclaimed result is in accordance with the will of the voters".

Martine Aubry therefore remains, at least for the moment, mayor of Lille.

Violette Spillebout appeals this decision

For the moment, because there will be a legal follow-up.

If Violette Spillebout has registered the rejection of her appeal, she does not however intend to stop there: "The Administrative Tribunal, in our eyes, seems to have preferred the only formalism and in these circumstances blindness rather than the lucid observation of a reality. brought to his eyes, ”denounces the opposition councilor in a press release.

She added her intention to appeal "so that the law is said".
