Will the protégés of national coach Hermann Weinbuch succeed in the first gold coup in Oberstdorf or will Norway's all-round winner Jarl Magnus Riiber be celebrating again in the end?

Thanks to Eric Frenzel's 2019 World Cup title in Seefeld in Tirol, Germany can nominate five athletes for the individual.

Local hero Johannes Rydzek, who was last canceled for the team competition, is also there again.

In addition to Frenzel, Vinzenz Geiger, Fabian Rießle and the Japanese Akito Watabe are the toughest opponents of Riiber, who has won gold in the individual and gold as the final runner in the team competition.

After Norway's top favorite Halvor Egner Granerud was eliminated due to corona, the chances for the German duo Karl Geiger and Markus Eisenbichler are even better.

The Oberstdorf violinist won the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament in December and is very familiar with the facility in his home town.

Eisenbichler also likes the hill and is hoping to defend his title after dominating the large hill individual two years ago.

In addition to the German duo, the Poles around Dawid Kubacki and the Slovenes around Anze Lanisek are hot contenders for gold.

The final is on Friday.

The home team also has a small outsider chance this time, even though other seasons such as Sweden, Norway or Russia are much stronger.

In Slovenia she had won World Cup silver with Vanessa Hinz, Janina Hettich and Franziska Preuß.
