Hanover (dpa / lni) - The Association for Education and Upbringing (VBE) has sharply criticized Lower Saxony's test and vaccination strategy for schools and daycare centers.

It is frustrating to find that in other federal states daycare workers and school staff have already received their first vaccination and rapid tests can be obtained without any problems, while in Lower Saxony there are not even vaccination appointments and the test options are confused with planning and confusion of skills would be slowed down, said VBE country chief Franz-Josef Meyer on Thursday.

While Bremen or Baden-Württemberg have been offering vaccinations for school staff of all school types since last week, Lower Saxony is still in the "discovery phase".

This is a "tragedy".

There should be no further school openings without test and vaccination offers, demanded Meyer: "Everything else is a dangerous game with the health of teachers and educational staff."

The Association of Lower Saxony Teachers VNL / VDR criticized the new decree of the Ministry of Education with rules for distance teaching.

It means more legal security, but also more burdens for the teachers, it said.

In addition, it must be clarified how corona-related learning backlogs can be made up in the next few years so that the recognition of Lower Saxony degrees by other federal states is ensured.

In the new decree, the Ministry of Culture allows schools, among other things, more flexibility in the design of subjects and content.
