The tragedy happened when a group of students crowded on the fifth floor of the university building in front of the student meeting.

A skirmish and a fight broke out between the students, which led to a crush on the site and the collapse of the protective railing.

Of the 11 people who fell down from a height of 16.7 meters, three died on the spot and four more - in the hospital as a result of their injuries.

Bolivian law enforcement detained three of the eight people who called students to a meeting at the university.

Professor of the University of El Alto Julio Alvarado said that the students were obliged to come to the meeting at the University of Bolivia, which ended in the death of students, their mentors are responsible for the incident.

"The first reason (what happened) is the irresponsibility of the mentors of the students that they called a physical meeting during the pandemic and obliged them to participate in it, otherwise the students could have consequences," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier it was reported that more than 20 people were killed when a bus fell in a gorge in Bolivia.
