London (AP) - The 99-year-old Prince Philip has survived a medical procedure on the heart.

"The Duke of Edinburgh survived a successful operation yesterday in St. Bartholomew's Hospital because of a pre-existing heart disease," said Buckingham Palace.

He will stay in the hospital for a few more days for recovery and further treatment.

Queen Elizabeth II's husband was admitted to a private clinic a good two weeks ago and later transferred to a heart center.

However, the stay should not be related to the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Queen and the family continued to attend official appointments, while Prince Charles visited his father in the hospital in between.
