Stuttgart (dpa) - The sports car manufacturer Porsche recorded a significant boost in sales at the start of 2021.

"As of the end of February we are on the double-digit percentage compared to the previous year," said Sales Director Detlev von Platen on Thursday.

This applies across all model series and all markets.

He didn't give any numbers.

Porsche only publishes sales on a quarterly basis.

There are still negative effects from the corona pandemic.

Nevertheless, one is very satisfied with the dynamism of the demand, said von Platen on the occasion of the premiere of the new electric model Taycan Cross Turismo.

Porsche had sold a good 272,000 cars worldwide in 2020, three percent fewer than in the previous year.

If demand remains at the same high level as it is now, 300,000 cars are conceivable for this year, said von Platen.

But you don't define yourself using a certain volume and don't set a target value.

"That is irrelevant to us," said the sales director.

By 2030, Porsche intends to achieve an electric share of 80 percent in its new vehicle fleet - adding up all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Last year, according to von Platen, the share was 17 percent worldwide, of which seven percent were purely electric.
