Brno (dpa / th) - The police tried to stop a fugitive driver by shooting at the tires.
The man had previously raced on the A73 on Wednesday evening and was therefore noticed by a motorway patrol, the police said on Thursday.
The officers then started the chase and drove after the man as far as Brno (Hildburghausen district).
Other emergency services had already been waiting for him there.
But the fugitive headed for the officers, who saved themselves with a jump to the side.
Then a policeman shot in the direction of the car's tires to no avail.
Ultimately, an unrolled chain of nails stopped the car, but not the man.
Because he continued to flee on foot.
Although both helicopters and tracking dogs were used, the stranger ultimately escaped.
