Selb (dpa / lby) - The police in Upper Franconia on the Czech border near Selb have again uncovered an illegal dog transport.

A police spokesman reported on Thursday that three pomeranians were found during the inspection of a pickup truck.

The animals were locked in a box in a very small space.

The driver stated that the young dogs should be brought to Belgium for resale.

An official veterinarian found during the examination that the young dogs were not sufficiently vaccinated.

In addition, the dogs were clearly too young to be legally imported.

The puppies were taken into care on Wednesday after the discovery.

The 59-year-old driver of the van had to provide a security deposit in the upper three-digit range.

During border controls, the police repeatedly discover puppies that are supposed to be smuggled.

Last Sunday, officials at Selb found a puppy just a few weeks old under the covers in the trunk of a car coming from the Czech Republic.
