Starting from the Seoul National University Hospital on the 4th, the higher-level general hospital is accelerating the inoculation of AstraZeneca's new crown vaccine for medical staff and service personnel.

The South Korean government originally planned to vaccinate employees in medical institutions with a higher risk of infection from the 8th, but due to the early delivery of the vaccine, the vaccination time has also been advanced.

However, on the same day, South Korean officials revealed that three more people died after being vaccinated with AstraZeneca's new crown vaccine, and the cumulative number of deaths increased to five.

Among the three new deaths, one was a 52-year-old patient who lived in a sanatorium in Jeonju City. He died in the early morning of the 4th nearly two days after being vaccinated. He suffered from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases during his lifetime and suffered cerebral hemorrhage in June 2020.

The second 58-year-old patient died in a long-term care hospital less than a day after vaccination. He suffered from myocardial infarction and diabetes before his death.

The other deceased was from Datian City, a woman in her 20s who was vaccinated on the 2nd and died about 15 hours later.

South Korean officials said that “none of them had any adverse reactions to the vaccination,” and pointed out that the health department will meet with several infectious disease experts to determine the correlation between their deaths and the vaccine.
