The man who was arrested after being shot by police in Vetlanda was arrested during the night, Rullman says.

- The police have carried out extensive investigative work with information gathering in various ways.

On the one hand, there have been many police officers who have reported, and on the other hand, many interrogations have been held.

- Some objects have also been seized, says Rullman.

He also confirms that a house search has been carried out on the suspect.

Rullman can not confirm what citizenship the 22-year-old has, but says that he "in any case has a connection to another country".

- But he has been living in the place where it happened, says Adam Rullman.

Has been questioned

The police have stated that the man is already known for petty crimes.

A brief interrogation has been held with the man.

- He is heard briefly in a so-called service interrogation, when information is given about the criminal suspicion, and then a short interrogation was held with him during the night.

Regarding the information that terrorist suspicions are also being investigated, Adam Rullman says that the current criminal suspicion is attempted murder and nothing else.

- Suspicion of terrorist crimes is always investigated by Säpo and prosecutors at the National Unit for Security Cases, they have been informed about the investigation and judged that they should not take it over.

And the terrorist suspicion is not something I can use as an ordinary operational prosecutor, but now the suspicion is attempted murder.

Followed by Säpo

However, the case is still being followed by Säpo, he says.

- Säpo will of course be involved in some way, and regardless of which, it will be very important to investigate the motive picture.

Should further things come to light, there will be a recap of that suspicion, but at the moment the suspicion is attempted murder.

There is nothing concrete that points in any other direction right now, but we are extremely early in the investigation.

It was around 3 pm yesterday that the police received several calls that a man was attacking with some form of harassment against other people near the railway station in Vetlanda.

How the course of events took place, the police have not told in detail, but about 15 minutes after the first alarm, the man, who was then still armed with a knife, was stopped by a police patrol.

In connection with that, he was shot by police.

Injured seven

Before that, the man had injured seven people in the attack, which seems to have taken place in several different places in central Vetlanda.

In total, the police had cordoned off five different crime scenes outdoors.

Between the barriers there were a few hundred meters apart.

Three people are being treated with life-threatening injuries after the events in Vetlanda yesterday.

The situation for the three is stable.

"Two more people are judged to continue to have serious injuries, two with moderate injuries and one person with minor injuries," Region Jönköping County announces in a press release.

The perpetrator is also being cared for for his gunshot wound, but the police do not consider the injuries to be life-threatening and expect to be able to interrogate the man.

At 3 pm, the police hold a press conference to inform about the investigation.
